The Routable team is committed to providing a secure experience for our customers. Below is a quick explanation for when and how we'll ask for additional customer information.
When is it necessary for a one-time Customer verification?
When you charge a Customer over $100,000.00 our team is legally required to verify their identity before processing the transaction. This one-time verification helps to prevent fraud and assures a secure experience for both you and your Customer.
This one-time verification allows you to charge Customers amounts higher than $5,000.00 for the rest of your Routable experience. Remember, it only happens once ✅
Why verify my Customer?
We verify new Customers (who you charge amounts larger than $100,000.00) for security and fraud purposes 🔐
Customer verification allows us to de-risk fraudulent payment activity.
Will you reach out to my Customer?
A Routable representative will reach out to your Customer on your behalf to verify the legal status of their business. We recommend sending them a quick note 💬 for their ease-of-mind.
Below is suggested text you can send to your Customer:
"Hey Sarah,
We're using Routable to send invoices and request payments from our customers.
Since this payment is larger than $100,000.00 a representative from Routable will be in touch for a one-time business verification.
This one-time verification takes no longer than 5 minutes and allows us to continue doing business with amounts greater than $100,000.00 with no friction."
What is asked from my Customer for this verification process?
We will ask your Customer to provide the following information:
-
Company EIN - An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number, and is used to identify a business as a legal entity in the United States.
-
Authorized Representative SSN (Last 4) - It is important to verify that the individual who makes a payment on behalf of your Customer is indeed an authorized representative of that entity. To do so, we will ask for the last four digits of their social security number (i.e. 9999).
Note: In the event that your Customer is a sole-proprietor or an individual, the Customer's SSN will be used for verification.
The company verification process is handled by Routable third-party payment processing partner.
Sometimes additional verification is needed...
In the event that our payment partner deems the provided information (EIN, SSN) insufficient we may ask your Customer for additional documents 📄 to verify their identity.
