Receivables (often called "invoices") are documents that request payment for goods or services provided. You can use Routable to send invoices to your customers, receive payments from your customers, and record those invoices and payments automatically in your NetSuite account.
You can create receivables in Routable in several ways:
- Send invoices to a specific customer
- Create a new invoice
- Import invoices from NetSuite to Routable
- Import invoices from NetSuite to multiple customers
Entering receivables in Routable
To begin creating a new receivable in Routable:
- In the Routable dashboard, click New > Request. This will bring up the receivable creation page
- At this point, you will have need to decide
Send invoices to a specific customer
By default, you will land on the Send invoices to a specific customer tab.
In the Invoice to section, start typing your customer's name to start creating an invoice to send to them. Routable will automatically search through your list of existing customers as you type for you to choose from, or you can create a new customer—either by creating them in Routable or by importing them from NetSuite.
Once you select the customer you want to invoice, you can either
Create a new invoice
Creating a new invoice creates a new invoice in Routable and syncs the invoice to NetSuite.
In the Invoice details section, click Create new invoice.
In the invoice form that appears, enter the details of the invoice that you would like to send.
Routable tries to mirror your NetSuite invoice form as closely as possible, however, there are some known limitations:
- In both the header and line item sections, there maybe be more fields than you see in NetSuite and the fields maybe be in a different order than you see in NetSuite. This is because Routable needs to infer what your invoice form looks like based on your NetSuite settings—Routable does not have direct access to the structure of your invoice forms.
- When you select a product/service item to add to your line items, Routable can only prefill the Unit price up to 5 decimal places. If your product/service line item requires >5 decimal places, you can either
- Manually add the additional digits to the Unit price field in Routable
- Create the invoice in NetSuite and import the invoice from NetSuite →
Note: Your invoice form will likely look different. Routable tries to mirror your NetSuite invoice form as closely as possible to what you see in NetSuite.
Later, when you go to create the invoice in Routable, Routable will first validate with NetSuite that the invoice details you inputted are valid.
Once you enter your invoice details, continue on to setting your payment terms →.
Import invoices from NetSuite
Importing invoices from NetSuite syncs an already created invoice in NetSuite to Routable allowing you to send the invoice and collect payment using Routable's platform.
In the table in the Invoice details section, select the invoices that you want to import from NetSuite. You can also choose how you want attachments from NetSuite to be handled. Use the checkboxes to make your selections.
- Import files attached to invoices on NetSuite: Import the files attached to the selected NetSuite invoices to Routable
- Ignore unsupported attachments: Do not import attachments from NetSuite with file types that are not supported by Routable. See Supported File Types →.
- Remove attachments generated by NetSuite: Every receivable created on your accounting software has an automatically generated invoice that will be attached to it on import. By selecting this option we will remove any of these automatically generated invoices from the receivable.
Once you select the invoices to import, continue on to setting your payment terms →.
Import invoices from NetSuite to multiple customers
Importing invoices from NetSuite to multiple customers syncs already created invoices from NetSuite to Routable allowing your to bulk import and send invoices and collect payments using Routable's platform. Select the Import invoices from NetSuite to multiple customers tab, then it is very similar to importing invoices for a specific customer → and you can follow the same instructions.

Once you enter your invoice details or select your NetSuite invoices to import, you can set your payment terms or mark the invoice(s) as paid.
Set payment terms
Setting your payment terms with your terms, due date, and receiving account tells your vendors how quickly and how to pay you.
In the Request details section, you need to set your payment terms
- Payment terms: Choose between selecting a specific due date, due upon receipt, net 30, or net 60
- Due date: Set the invoice due date
You will always receive funds via standard ACH, however, you can select the receiving bank account from your connected bank accounts in the Bank account dropdown.
Once you set your payment terms, continue on to sending your invoices →.
Mark as paid
Marking an invoice as paid lets you enter or import an invoice and immediately mark it as paid. When an invoice is marked as paid, Routable will sync a payment record for the invoice to your NetSuite account.
In the Request details section, fill out the form
- Payment method: Payment method by which you received the funds

In the Request details section, select an option in the Send to customer field
- Today: Send the invoice to your customer as soon as you click the Create invoice button
- On a future date: Schedule a date for the invoice to send the invoice to your customer. Adjust the Send date as needed.
- Skip scheduling for now: Put the invoice in the "Ready to send" status so you can manually send the invoice or schedule an invoice send date at a later time.
Once you select your invoice sending option, continue on to creating and syncing invoices →.
Creating and syncing invoices
Once you have filled out all the requisite information in the create receivable page, you can create your invoice(s). To do this, click the Create invoice button. After you click the button, Routable will sync with NetSuite to check that all the information you entered is valid. If the information is valid, you will be taken to a summary page. If some of the information is invalid, you will be take back to the create receivable page to update the information before attempting to create the invoice again.
Once you create a receivable in Routable and it syncs to NetSuite, you cannot edit the receivable. If you need to edit the receivable, cancel it and recreate it.
